Point Blank Music

Check Out the Latest Release on Point Blank Music. Ether E – ‘Blue Keys’

We’re back with another release on Point Blank Music. This time it comes from Steve Evett aka Ether E. Blue Keys is a stomper built around dreamy pads and loose piano chords, resulting in a slice of warm, classic house. Embellished with detuned hats and a distinctive bass gargle, the end result is an accomplished tool. PB Music is our platform for the release of music made by students and alumni, so if you study with us you can be in consideration too. If you’d like to learn how to produce, check out our production courses in London and Online.

Blue Keys is out now via iTunes and Beatport, and can be streamed on all major platforms including Spotify.

Hey Steve! First could you give me a little background? How did you get into music in the first place?

I’ve always been a music fanatic and have been doing DJ gigs for a while. As my taste has become more underground I realised that all the music I was playing was made by DJs and it inspired me to make my own tunes.

What did/are you studying with Point Blank and what’s been the biggest thing you’ve taken from it?

I mainly studied sound design with Point Blank and my favourite thing has always been the interviews with established producers.

What sort of music are you into, what are some of your biggest inspirations?

I have a really broad taste but the stuff that is relevant to my own work is deep tech, acid house & disco. I am heavily inspired by people like KiNK. Todd Terje, Eats Everything.

Tell me about the EP, what went into making it?

I started with the sampled piano chords, created a groove and then built everything from there.

What have you got in store this year? Any gigs lined up or goals your working toward?

This year I will be continuing my residency at Albert’s Shed in Shrewsbury, picking up more gigs and finishing a ton of music.
