Find Out Our Top 3 Plugins of the Week of 2017! OekSound, UAD & More Inside…

Plugins have become a mainstay in music production as a convenient and cost-effective alternative for larger physical hardware options. That said, the market for plugins is huge, saturated with thousands of applications performing similar jobs from different companies. We begun our ‘Plugin of the Week’ series to shed some light on this technical minefield and provide you our recommendations of some of the best plugins around. If you want to start your journey in music production, check out our courses in LondonLos Angeles and Online. SSL 4000 E Channel Strip

In this plugin of the week, Point Blank Creative Director and plugin maestro, JC Concato, takes us through UAD’s incredible strip emulation of the cornerstone mixing desk, the SSL 4000 E. In the video, JC demonstrates the accurate analog behaviour of this musical channel strip and highlights its practical applications in a mixing environment.

Soothe by Oeksound

Soothe is a fantastically unique plugin. Originally designed by Oeksound as a vocal processor, the concept behind this plugin is to work as a dynamic processor, with self-adjusting frequency bands to tame the mids and highs of any track. In this plugin of the week feature, JC goes through the ins-and-outs of this software and how to use it to adjust your vocals in the mix.

Eventide ‘Blackhole’ Reverb

For this plugin of the week feature, we turn the spotlight onto Eventide’s ethereal ‘BlackHole’ reverb plugin. Creating reverb spaces that range between tiny box reverbs and gigantic alien spaces with huge, smooth tails, this plugin really is unique. Watch on for a walkthrough of its features and hugely customisable parameters.
