Top 3 Masterclasses of 2015 (Richie Hawtin, Ben Pearce, Matthew Dear)

Over the years, Point Blank have hosted the world’s biggest and best producers giving exclusive masterclasses and interviews on how they make their music. 2015 was no different and we’ve rounded up our favourite videos of the year – make sure you don’t miss any of our future masterclasses by subscribing to our YouTube channel.

Richie Hawtin – CNTRL 2015

Richie Hawtin’s CNTRL tour took place back in April of this year, with an eight-city, twelve-day trek across North America. We travelled across the US and Canada, hosting masterclasses with some of the most innovative artists in electronic music including Matthew Dear, Dubfire and Chris Liebing. For the final masterclass, we were joined by techno legend Richie Hawtin to get an insight into his live performance ethos and to go in depth about how his life setup works. Watch our exclusive video above.

Ben Pearce – What I Might Do Track Masterclass

Ben Pearce’s huge track What I Might Do launched a career that’s seen him go on to play the biggest clubs in the world, start his own record label and even secure a regular show on Rise FM. We asked him to join us at Point Blank London to talk about how the track was made using Ableton Live and to find out his advice for new producers.

Matthew Dear – CNTRL 2015

Under his different guises, Matthew Dear creates some of the most ethereal and captivating electronic music. He joined us in Boston for our very first stop of the CNTRL tour to break down his remix for Leftfield in Ableton Live. With great insight and advice for music making, mixing and mastering, the packed room erupted in applause at the end of the session. See what you’re missing, above.
