In our brand new series Style Guide, we visited the Brighton studio of F9 Audio founder and Freemasons member James Wiltshire to investigate the origins of dance music, explaining both who and what went into creating those early records, and how the scene and studios grew with the sound. Part one delved into the history of house music and explored one of the most iconic pieces of hardware behind the genre, the Roland TR-909. In the second episode of this series, James goes on to explore how some of the classic house sounds created on hardware such as the TR-909 can be replicated with production techniques in Ableton Live.
