We’re back with a brand new tutorial series to help you get the most out of your productions. In this series, Point Blank course developer and instructor Chris Carter will be showing us the basics of sound design, focusing on different elements of synthesis and going into detail as to how they work and how they can be applied. These videos will give you a flavour of what to expect on our courses, such as our comprehensive BA (Hons) Music Production and Sound Engineering degree, which is also available as an online degree. For episode two of our new sound design tutorial series, Point Blank expert instructor Chris Carter uses a range of variables available in Native Instrument’s Massive plugin to create an 808 bass sound. Chris discusses how to use envelopes, pitch modulation and voicing to shape a pure sine wave into the iconic, punchy kick drum/bass sound that we all know and love. Watch the video above for the full breakdown and keep your eyes peeled for the next in the series. If you missed it, you can catch episode one, ‘What is an LFO’, here.
These tips are just a small excerpt from the sound design module on our BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering Degree, on which you can also learn everything you need to know about music production including mixing & mastering, composition and music business. We also offer an online alternative, in the form of our new online BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering Degree.
