We’ve updated our sample courses to include a taster of our Online BA (Hons) in Music Production and Sound Engineering degree course. The course consists of eight modules included in the full BA (Hons) degree programme, designed to give you a taste of what you can expect when you study online with us. Each week for the next eight weeks we’ll be giving you a taste of what each module entails, as well as showing you one of the videos from the corresponding module’s course materials. To get us started, here’s a short video on using the Ultrabeat sequencer in Logic Pro and don’t forget that you can take a range of free online sample courses to get a flavour of the quality, style and content you can expect when studying online with Point Blank. Remember though, what you can’t experience here is the live interaction with your instructor and classmates that you get when you enrol on a live course!
For the first week, we’ll be looking at the first module for on the online sample course, also the first module for students taking the BA. Introduction to Production (ITP) deals with the essential skills needed to create tracks in a variety of genres. Students learn how to create their own material as well as using samples, how to edit and process MIDI, and the rudiments of synthesis to give a good grounding for more advanced study. For our examples, we look at the aforementioned Ultrabeat sequencer in Logic, with which we can programme up to 24 patterns of drums and how to make the most of busses to group track elements for simplicity. In Ableton students are introduced to the different kinds of filter and their function, plus we give an introductory overview of sampling.
We have a host of online courses besides our BA, so please visit the online school for the full list. Or, if you live nearby, have a look at our colleges in London or Los Angeles.
