We have a very special student opportunity coming up. In November, the legendary Decca Records are coming to our London studios for a special one-off audition day in front of an A&R from the label and representative from Union Artists. All singers, songwriters, producers and musicians from Point Blank are welcome to apply for the audition session – they’re looking for any and all musical talent to be the next breakthrough artist to come through Decca.
These auditions will take place from 11am on 14th November at our Orsman Road facility. To sign up for an audition, email decca.auditions@umusic.com, with audio links to your work and/or social media channels, also stating whether you’re a singer, songwriter, producer or DJ. As one of the biggest and most influential record labels of the 20th century, Decca Records should need little introduction. Just in case, they were long associated with groundbreaking music in both the classical and popular spheres. Of the latter, artists included luminaries like Louis Armstrong, Judy Garland, Bing Crosby and Billie Holliday in the pre-war period. Later, they had a hand in the explosion of rock n roll with the release of ‘Rock Around the Clock’ by Bill Haley & His Comets in 1954, and in the 1960s they were responsible for putting out records by The Rolling Stones, Rod Stuart and left-field cult heroes like Ivor Cutler. Today, they are home to artists including Xamvolo, Seal, Andrea Bocelli and Aurora, as part of the major label group Universal.
