Today marks a momentous occasion for pointblank Music School as we officially open the doors to our brand new state-of-the-art establishment, pointblank China.
Our journey to bring top tier electronic music education to the Far East began last year when we partnered with Netease FEVER, a newly established company which uses education, events and production to further the reach of electronic music across China. Over the course of this year, we have been hard at work laying the foundations for our new venture as well as building our brand new studio complex at the International Expo Centre, Hangzhou, in the heart of China’s creative district.
To celebrate this big step for pointblank, we held an exclusive launch party in the hub of our new campus – an area of the school which serves as a breakout space for our students by day and a nightclub in the evenings, fully equipped with a DJ booth, professional lighting and sound system. A number of industry figures, artists, taste-makers and newly appointed PB staff were in attendance at the launch event to deliver speeches, take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony and provide tours for all those eager to explore the new facilities. These included the NetEase Group CEO William Ding, NetEase FEVER CEO Jessie Wang, pointblank’s CEO and Founder Rob Cowan, Hangzhou government leaders, the British Embassy in China and more. Our entertainment for the night featured non-other than the top 100 DJ duo, W&W, who delivered an unforgettable performance following support from our first cohort of DJ students. Now, pointblank looks ahead and prepares for a prosperous future in China training the next generation of Chinese electronic musicians.

It’s Official – pointblank China is Open!
Following our introductory summer taster courses, which saw a number of talented students take to the new studios to experiment, create and explore the art of electronic music production and DJing, pointblank China will offer up a selection of 19 courses spanning six categories including Music Production, DJ Skills, Music Industry and more. The programmes will all take place in-house at our new 6,000 square meter state-of-the-art studios, which feature DJ rooms, music production rooms, music industry classrooms, recording/mixing studios, practice rooms, a performance area, a social hub and more. As is tradition with other pointblank studios, our new China facilities are decked out with the latest and greatest in tech, sponsored by industry giants such as Pioneer DJ and Native Instruments. Keep an eye out for our official launch party video coming soon.
