With over 80% of students expressing satisfaction across teaching, assessment, support, and wellbeing, pointblank has once again demonstrated its commitment to delivering an exceptional and high-value student experience. The 2025 National Student Survey (NSS), a key benchmark for UK higher education, highlights our strengths in freedom of expression, teaching quality, and timely feedback – all areas where we’ve exceeded national benchmarks.
The NSS is a measure of student satisfaction across UK higher education commissioned annually by the Office for Students (OfS) and invites final year undergraduates to provide feedback on their university experience, covering areas including academic support, student voice and learning opportunities.
Here is a closer look at what pointblank students value most:
A culture of expression
Freedom of expression remains a standout strength at pointblank. An impressive 92% of students said they feel free to express their ideas, opinions, and beliefs, surpassing the national benchmark of 88% and improving on last year’s result by 1.7%.
Teaching that inspires
Students continue to rate our teaching highly, with 87% expressing overall satisfaction. Highlights include:
- 96% positivity for “how good are teaching staff at explaining things?”
- Over 80% satisfaction for teaching that is engaging and intellectually stimulating
In the learning opportunities category, 86% of students agreed they had the chance to bring together ideas from different topics – reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of our courses and the added educational value they provide.
Assessments that reflect learning
Assessments and feedback emerged as an area of high satisfaction for students.
- 90.5% of students felt assessments allowed them to demonstrate what they have learned.
- 92.3% were satisfied with the timeliness of feedback – 10.5% above the national benchmark
Among London-based music education providers, we rank highest for student voice, learning opportunities and assessment and feedback categories.
Support where it’s needed
Reflecting our commitment to supporting students both academically and personally throughout their journey, we were pleased to see that 88% of students were satisfied with academic support received at pointblank, while 85% expressed satisfaction with learning opportunities.
And beyond the classroom experience, 81.60% were pleased with the mental wellbeing services available.
Commenting on the NSS 2025 results, pointblank’s CEO & Founder Rob Cowan said:
