Almost two months ago we set a deceptively simple challenge: create an hour-long DJ mix and submit it on PB’s social media platform Plugged In. It was a call to arms for emerging DJ talent the world over, with the top prize a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play the Beach Stage at Defected Croatia. Well, you responded to our call, and then some! We were blown away by the creativity, selections, technical skill and grasp of the Defected ethos on display across the consistently high standard of entries (over 120 in total!). Judging this was a lot of fun.
However, after much deliberation we found our winner. The DJ who, on the 14th August, will play the opening three hour slot on the Point Blank Powered by DFTD stage at Defected Croatia is *drumroll emoji* Maslow Unknown. He’ll be joining the likes of ANOTR, Worthy and Dario D’Attis on a line-up showcasing the best up-and-coming talent in house music. Want to hear what his winning mix sounds like? Listen below:

For Point Blank students and graduates, we can also announce the winners of three DJ slots up for grabs as part of a Point Blank takeover for the Defected in the House event featuring Roger Sanchez, held at the world famous Ministry of Sound in London on 2nd July. Those three winners are:
c.Rius
c.Rius may be a familar to some. Earlier this year, the Berlin-born graduate of the Music Production & Sound Engineering Master Diploma was picked up by Armada Deep, an arm of Armin van Buuren’s influential Armada Music. Splitting his time between London and Germany, he frequently plays gigs alongside alongside established artists like Format: B, Moguai and Tinu. LateON
LateON is another name you’ll be hearing more of soon. He has a release due on PB Music in the near future – subscribe to our YouTube channel to be the first to hear that when it drops.

Plugged In regular Oliver recently graduated from Point Blank where he studied the Online Music Production Diploma. His track ‘I And U’ was chosen for inclusion in the May edition of the Point Blank Monthly Showcase. Listen to it here.
