Here at Point blank, we are committed to redressing the balance in music. It’s well documented that men consistently outweigh women at the head of festival bills, but there are plenty of influential figures trying to change this state of affairs, and we ourselves were delighted to back one such campaign last year. The tide, we hope, is turning. That said, there is still much work to be done, and this year we are proud to use the widened recognition brought on by International Women’s Day to do our small part. So, on the 4th of March, we are opening our doors for a day of workshops across a myriad of fields that we cover here, for anyone who identifies as a woman. For International Women’s Day we’re offering a series of workshops to any that identify as female, across a range of Point Blank related subjects. Get to know some DJ equipment or hone your existing skills; learn to record demos in a professional studio; get to grips with Ableton Live or Logic with some introductory tuition in production; chat to industry professionals for feedback and advice on your work; or just turn up and play around with some of top-of-the-range hardware.
Refreshments will be provided for those in attendance and our guests will include: Bamz – South London producer behind some of Nadia Rose’s biggest tracks, Halina Rice – experimental producer who has released on Blurred, Ceri – producer with Hot Creations and one of Point Blank latest additions to our team of expert instructors, and Eden Grey – a composer and modular whizz who will be delving into the wonderful world of modular synthesis. Whether you’re a beginner, or more experienced, we encourage you to apply to take part in sessions and meet like-minded music makers and enthusiasts alike.
