We’re very pleased to announced that for our next Open House on Saturday February 6 at Point Blank Los Angeles, we’ll be joined by Low End Theory and Alpha Pup founder Daddy Kev. If you haven’t already come to see our school in Los Angeles, the Open House is the perfect opportunity to take a look at all the kit we have and meet our instructors including Computo (Flying Lotus, Zedd, A-Trak), Sweatson Klank and Bon Harris (Nitzer Ebb, Smashing Pumpkins). The event will start at 12:00pm at Mack Sennett Studios, 1215 Bates Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90029. Tickets are free and available to the general public – grab your ticket here.
First off on the day, you’ll get to meet our expert instructor team, with introductions from Computo (Flying Lotus, A-Trak, Zedd), Bon Harris (Nitzer Ebb, Smashing Pumpkins) and Sweatson Klank (Project: Mooncircle). They’ll give you the lowdown on their industry experience and some valuable insights into the courses students will potentially be studying.
Next we’ll introduce Daddy Kev for his exclusive guest workshop, with attendees also able ask Daddy Kev any questions they have in an open Q&A after the session. Daddy Kev is a Grammy-nominated mixer, mastering engineer, producer and record label owner. He founded Alpha Pup Records in 2004, and has served as resident DJ and talent buyer for the world-renowned club night Low End Theory since inception in 2006.
As the chief architect of the L.A. beat scene, Kev has mixed and/or mastered albums for Flying Lotus, Mr. Oizo, Thundercat, ODESZA, Nosaj Thing, TOKiMONSTA, Kamasi Washington and countless others. Daddy Kev received a 2016 Grammy nomination for mixing the Flying Lotus song “Never Catch Me” featuring Kendrick Lamar. The PBLA Open House on February 6 represents an exclusive chance to learn from the master that is Daddy Kev, and it’s free!
To round things out, US Course Advisor Hart Thorson will give a guided tour of PBLA so you can see the production stations for yourself. If attendees have any questions about courses, they can ask the instructors directly and get all the information they need.
