Next Friday between 12pm and 2pm, we’re hosting a very special event with a producer panel and Q&A session in the classrooms of pointblank Los Angeles. The panel, entitled ‘Finding Your Creative Spark’, will see six PBLA expert instructors discussing topics around harnessing creativity and workflow. The panel will take place on Friday October 21st, 12pm – 2pm, Mack Sennett Studios and, as spaces are limited, you need to save your space by registering on our Eventbrite page. The Open House is a great opportunity to network with PBLA students and instructors and afterwards, there will be a guided tour of the studios with a chance to put your own questions to the panel.
For this event, we’ve assembled a line-up drawn from our instructor base and that covers a wide range of experience, capable of offering valuable insights from across the industry. Prolific LA-based producer Tom Wilson aka Sweatson Klank defies genre categories with his rich and hybrid bass-heavy sound. With releases on Project Mooncircle, Alpha Pup, All City, Poobah Records and more, Tom is well-placed to offer advice to new producers coming through.
Composer and producer Bon Harris is perhaps best known as a founding member of industrial pioneers Nitzer Ebb, but his thirty year career is characterised by his acclaimed work as a producer and collaborator with some of the biggest names in rock, including Depeche Mode, The Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson. Musician and producer David Harrow has also had a long and illustrious career with stints in Psychic TV and Jah Wobble’s Invaders Of The Heart peppering his early career. He went on to become a key collaborator at Adrian Sherwood’s On-U Sound label and one half of Bloodsugar with Andrew Weatherall before heading to LA and, ultimately, becoming deeply embedded on the city’s dubstep scenes, most notably as part of Pure Filth Sound.
Adding to our roster of expert instructors involved in this event we have Joe Caputo aka Computo, a Hollywood-based producer and sound designer with a serious addiction to modular synthesis. Working for 6 years at Native Instruments, he trained artists like Zedd, Flying Lotus and A-Trak in the specifics of Maschine and Komplete. Computo also has in-depth knowledge of modular synth composition and sound design, co-founding the CNTRPNT modular workshop series together with Voltage Control Labs. We also welcome two of our newest PBLA instructors for this workshop: Gato, our resident Native Instruments expert and Brian Markman, a respected Ableton Certified Trainer and LA scene lynchpin. The line-up is completed by Viktor Carillo, founder of Droid Behavior.
The panel starts at 12:30pm and will last an hour, with 30 mins either side for networking, tour and Q&A. Head here to save you space now – it’s absolutely free, but spaces are limited.
