Welcome to the second entry in our new ‘PB Talks’ series, in which we share some of the guest talks and lectures that take place at the school. We have a growing archive of industry guest talks that are available to all our students as an extra course resource, with a wide range of industry guests also planned for future classes. For this series, we share a small taste of what our students have access to, whether in person at the schools or online via our virtual learning environment. Here we compile the chat given by Ben Burrell of Absolute Radio, packed full of anecdotes and advice. Check out our radio courses for more guidance on your own route to a carer in radio.
Ben is a radio presenter and voiceover artist with over a decade of experience working in the industry. His journey took him from student radio in Portsmouth to winning the Demo Idol competition for a show on Galaxy FM in Leeds back in 2008 and eventually to Absolute Radio reaching audiences nationwide. For his PB Talks guest talk, he emphasises the importance of networking, putting yourself in the right places and staying true to who you are as a professional, among many more invaluable tips. Get stuck in to see what you can learn about getting your foot in the door in the radio industry.
There are still more of these features to come, so keep an eye out. We’ve had some fantastic speakers in recent times and we can’t wait to share more of these videos with you. Don’t forget that to access them all you’ll have to study with us, and with schools in London, Los Angeles, Ibiza, Mumbai and Online you can do so from absolutely anywhere! Give us a shout if you have any questions.
