PBLA to Host Free Masterclasses in Mixing and NI Maschine w/ Sweatson Klank and Computo

We continue our run of informative sessions with two new free masterclasses on two consecutive days. The first will see Sweatson Klank (Friends of Friends, Sony, Warp, Ghostly, Brainfeeder & more) give a demonstration of the Art of Mixing programme on Tuesday, May 8th (7-8pm). For the second, production wizard, Native Instruments veteran and composer Computo (worked with Flying Lotus, A-Trak and Zedd) will give a masterclass in NI Maschine on Tuesday, May 9th (6:30-8pm), ahead of the next LA Native Session: Bars, which is to be held in Mack Sennett Studios where our PBLA studios are located. Both events are free but places are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, so head to Eventbrite to RSVP the masterclass in Mixing and Maschine.

Tom Wilson aka Sweatson Klank is currently gearing for the release of his fourth LP ‘Fine Lines’ on Friends of Friends having dropped two EPs on the LA label in the last six months. He has played massive festivals including Coachella, Sonar, Low-End Theory and shared a stage with the likes of Mos Def, Just Blaze, Kode 9, Little Dragon and Flying Lotus. Besides this, he has a wealth of experience in the music industry, working with brands such as Nike, Puma, Reebok, Novation, Ableton and Native Instruments.

Joe ‘Computo’ Caputo is a Hollywood-based producer and sound designer with a serious addiction to modular synthesis. He has been teaching the Sound Design module of our Complete Music Production & Sound Design course at PBLA for over 2 years now, and having worked for 6 years at Native Instruments, he knows pretty much everything there is to know about Maschine. He even trained artists like Zedd, Flying Lotus and A-Trak to use one. Now Computo is focused on modular synth composition and sound design, co-founding the CNTRPNT modular workshop series, as well as being involved in the Voltage Control Lab, plus he’s been working on film scores too.

Both of these events precede the Los Angeles edition of Native Instruments’ ‘Bars’, a global examination of hip-hop and rap focusing on the variations in the cities that host the Native Sessions.
