Thread, aka Tibor Czerna, is one of the rising stars of Hungary’s techno and tech house scenes. A DJ since 2005 and producer since 2009, a year in Australia saw him join Hydrofunk Records where he had the chance clock in studio time with artists like Dave Atkins (Resin Dogs), Spikey Tee (Morcheeba) and Ian Peres (Wolfmother). In 2011, he was crowned winner of the Master Tempo DJ Competition and is now a regular at some of Hungary’s biggest electronic music festivals, including Sziget, Balaton Sound and Volt. To complement his rising DJ profile, he decided to turn some attention to his production skills – which ultimately led him to the UK and Point Blank, where he is currently studying the Music Production & DJ Diploma.
“I came here to extend my knowledge and to write better music but during the courses we learn many different things,” he says of his time at PB. “There’s a lot of practical time at the classes so it gave me a lot of confidence for my production. I’d recommend it to everyone who not just wants to know music but get a hands-on experience and have fun with the other students from all over the world.” The mix, an hour of driving, atmospheric tech house, features two unreleased tracks from Thread.
