DJ Suketu is one of India’s top DJs and also runs The Music Inc (TMI), one of Mumbai’s finest musical institutions. Over the last few weeks he has been studying our Complete Electronic Music Production online course, demonstrating that even those with his kind of experience can take plenty from learning with Point Blank. He’s been keeping us up to date with his progress thus far with his weekly vlog series. Watch below as he tells us how he found week four. Come back next week for the next instalment.
DJ Suketu on week five of Electronic Music Production
In week four students are introduced to chords, riffs and stabs – and the layers of tracks are beginning to stack up. In week five we move further into the melodic make-up of our tracks, and dive into structure. This is all-important, allowing students to escape the familiar rut of fiddling with a single 4, 8 or 16 bar loop indefinitely, and gain the tools to finish tracks. To do this, online instructors teach students how to build different sections of tracks, as well as breakdowns and transitions in order to weave them together. A good summation of everything learned in week five can be found in the analysis below of Avicii’s classic track ‘Levels’, from 2011.

DJ Suketu and The Music Inc have been working closely with Point Blank in recent months to create a unique educational pathway for their students looking to study with us in London. Indian students looking for academic accreditation in the UK can benefit from saving up to £3,000 on our BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering Degree, in which we shape a bespoke range of modules for their programme. We have also developed two courses for TMI students looking to study with us in London based on a short-term visa, in the form of our Advanced Music Production & Sound Design Diploma and Advanced Music Production & Sound Design Certificate.
