PB Recommends #46: Om Unit, Helena Hauff and More

Point Blank Recommends is our regular round-up of the tunes being played and obeyed around the office. Check out the playlist below for some of the freshest new sounds around, and look out for a special unreleased gem from 1985 on Adrian Sherwood’s peerless On-U Records. As always, keep your mind and ears open and you might just find your new favourite artist.

This month has been a big one for new releases. Om Unit launch their new label with a third LP and we’ve also been treated to yet another slice of gold from Whities: a return to the label from Avalon Emerson. The Texan DJ can do no wrong these days and Whities 13 doesn’t disappoint, particularly not the hypnotic rattle of the b-side, ‘Finally Some Common Ground’. Elsewhere Rihanna slays the new NERD track, Helena Hauff serves up more gothy electro of the highest order, and Point Blank Recordings’ first artist AMANI is remixed by Panorama Bar resident Dinky and PB alumnus Kells. Oh and of course there’s the aforementioned On-U Sound classic from Dub Syndicate. Get into that.

For more music and tutorials including our recent first look at Ableton Live 10, head to the Point Blank YouTube channel. We hope these sounds inspire you to take the next step in your music making, and whatever that means to you, we can provide the guidance you need at Point Blank. Our most comprehensive course in production is our three-year degree programme in London: BA (Hons) in Music Production & Sound Engineering, and we also offer an online alternative. Perhaps making tracks isn’t your thing, in which case have a look at our radio and DJ courses to focus on selection. If you’d like to know more, you can find all the ways to contact us here.
