Last month we had the pleasure of attending the IHE Independent Higher Education Awards where we were crowned the winners of the Exporting Education category. This award is given to those who have shown exceptional “innovation and commitment to delivering, partnering or collaborating in the international market.” At Point Blank, we pride ourselves on the opportunities we offer our students and the global partnerships we have forged over our many years of experience. Our ties within the industry and music education sector have enabled us to offer practical music-related courses as a Higher Education institution with a presence in multiple locations worldwide. These include London, LA where we partnered with Mack Sennett Studios, Ibiza with Can Blau, Mumbai with The True School of Music (TSM), China with NetEase FEVER and of course our award-winning online courses.

A major element of our submission focused around the international nature of our student base and course resources. Over 50% of our online students are international and benefit from the use of our custom-built VLE (Virtual Learning Environment). Our VLE enables our students to export course notes; watch tutorial videos; download resources; communicate with their peers; receive notifications; submit assignments and view feedback and grades. There is also the option for students across the globe to catch up with their instructors on a 1-on-1 basis via the live booking system.

In addition to our win at the awards ceremony, we were also awarded runner-up in the ‘Industry Partnership’ category, given to those who are taking innovative approaches to building and maintaining industry Partnerships. Due to our long-time collaborations with the likes of Ableton, Native Instruments and Pioneer DJ, as well as being the only UK Institution to have 3 individual Certified Ableton Trainers, this highlights that Point Blank are amongst the best independent HE institutions when it comes to industry links.
