Point Blank Students Have Number One Chart Success!

A music school is judged by the success of its graduates. That’s why Point Blank’s been voted the ‘Best Electronic Music School’ six times by DJ Mag. Throughout our 20 years of teaching production, mixing, mastering, songwriting and more, we’ve had some amazing students come through our London, Los Angeles and online schools including Claude VonStroke, Nicole Moudaber and Goldie. Recently though, our alumni have been making noise in the industry with #1 tracks all over the music scene. Find out more below and if they can do it, so can you!

If seeing our students doing so well has got you inspired to study with us, you should take a look at our Complete Master Diploma. It all comes as part of studying in our brand new second studio complex in London – you can book yourself on a tour here.

Felix Jaehn – #1 in Over 10 Countries

We’re very proud of one of our most recent student successes, Felix Jaehn. After the success of his ‘Cheerleader’ remix which went to #1 in over 11 countries including America and the UK, Felix’s new single ‘Ain’t Nobody’ (a cover of the Chaka Khan classic) hit #4 on the iTunes Top Songs Chart. We’re delighted to see that Felix mentioned his time at Point Blank on his iTunes biography as well as in his recent interview with Rolling Stone, where he mentions that studying here was a crucial part of his early development as an artist. Felix studied in London with us, and it wasn’t long after studying that he shot to fame.

Nicole Moudaber – #1 Album on Beatport

Nicole Moudaber studied DJing with Point Blank (part of the Complete Master Diploma), and was described by Carl Cox as “the most underrated DJ” in an interview with DJ Mag. The certified global club star has held down residences in Ibiza and at London’s Ministry of Sound, and these days her following is that of cult status. With releases on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode, Intec and Steve Lawler’s VIVa MUSiC, Nicole manages to walk the line between house and techno in her own unique way. Her debut album ‘Believe’ was #1 for a month on the Beatport Techno, Tech House and Deep House charts.

Now, she’s regularly covered by the likes of Resident Advisor, and this summer, Nicole will appear at global events like IMS Ibiza, Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival New York and Kappa Futurfestival.

Claude VonStroke – #1 on Beatport

Dirtybird boss Claude VonStroke studied a variety of online courses with us, and his smashing ‘Beat That Bird’ and euphoric ‘Vocal Chords’ went to #1 and #2 respectively on Beatport. He’s a prolific DJ and producer, and these days his Dirtybird crew can be found all over the globe making and playing out some of the chunkiest, freshest music.

Patrick Topping – #1 on Beatport

Since studying with Point Blank online, Patrick has gone from strength to strength. A favourite among the Hot Creations crew and having joined them at legendary Ibizan club DC10 last summer, Patrick has already had two Beatport #1 hits in the Tech House chart. With releases also on genre-defining labels like Toolroom, Defected, Cr2 and VIVa MUSIC, it’s fair to say Patrick Topping is smashing it right now! Patrick studied Logic Pro with us so if you want to find out more click here.

Cedric Steinmyller – #1 in Europe

Their international smash hit ‘Jubel’ reached #1 in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. With over 135 million views on YouTube and 318,000 likes on Facebook, it’s no wonder these guys have been booked to play the biggest clubs all over the world. Aluna Francis is one half of the world-beating duo AlunaGeorge. She studied production in Ableton Live at Point Blank (part of the Complete Master Diploma) before taking off to huge chart success with tracks like ‘You Know You Like It’ and #1 hit ‘White Noise’ with another UK duo, Disclosure. As soon as AlunaGeorge started getting noticed, they were immediately labelled as ones to watch and were listed for the Critics’ Choice award at the BRITs, as well as coming second on the BBC’s coveted Sound of 2013 list alongside many other accolades.

Leona Lewis – #1 in 34 countries

Leona Lewis shot to fame after winning the third series of The X Factor in 2006. However, before she became a household name Leona was a student on our Singing Course. It was here that she laid the foundation for her glittering career, which so far has taken in five studio albums and sixteen singles, including 2008’s biggest-selling single worldwide, ‘Bleeding Love’. Her debut album Spirit was also the first debut album by a British solo artist to debut at number one on the Billboard 100.
