Remix Competition: Viv May (Shogun Audio, Dispatch Records) – ‘Don’t Say It’

At Point Blank, we work hard to present regular opportunities for our students and alumni to get their talent noticed. Which is why, hot on the heels of our hugely popular Hannah V remix contest, we’ve lined up another great chance to show us your remix chops in a competition hosted on Plugged In, Point Blank’s community of music-makers. After all, few things can fuel inspiration than the offer of career-making exposure and a haul of top of the range production gear. Simply download the vocal stems of Viv May’s latest track ‘Don’t Say It’ to get started with our latest competition.

Singer-songwriter and former PB singing course graduate Viv May is setting you the challenge of remixing her brand new track ‘Don’t Say It’. A hotly tipped UK artist who has chalked up collaborations with Zero T, Phase and Session Victim, Viv May’s strand of spirited, soulful pop has found support from Radio 1, Ministry of Sound Radio and sister label of Shogun Audio, SGN:LTD. We’re looking for your best remixes, there’s no genre stipulations or style restrictions, the winning track will be judged solely on quality and originality. But what’s in it for you? A Point Blank ‘complete’ online course of your choosing, a Synthmaster Everything bundle and Nevo Analogue Machines, Samplephonic’s hybrid synth created in conjunction with Yoad Nevo.

How do I enter?

1. Download the stems – note, you must register with Point Blank in order to access the stems.
2. Create a new track, completely open in terms of genre – entries will be judged on their quality and originality!
3. Upload your track to SoundCloud and submit the track via the Tracks channel of Plugged In – Point Blank’s social network for producers and DJs – before midnight on 18th December

Fancy yourself as the remixer that the pop stars have on speed dial, but not quite there yet? Our Online Master Diploma course covers sound design, production, mixing, mastering and composition. You can take it from anywhere in the world and, lasting for up to 64 weeks, it’s one of the school’s most comprehensive courses. With alumni including Claude VonStroke, Plastician and Jon Rundell, the quality speaks for itself. Find out more here.
