Enter to be in a Filmed Promo Shoot with DJ Yoda

Globally respected UK hip-hop DJ, producer and turntablist DJ Yoda is involved a project called ‘Starting from Scratch’ and is currently supporting the team looking for four talented student DJs to be filmed as part of the promo for this new competition TV series idea. This is your chance to get some seriously good exposure.

The concept will test DJs on their creativity and technical ability specifically in the style of mash-up and turntablism. Unlike usual DJ sets, each participant uses the same playlist challenging them to create a multi-genre, five minute mix in a set time limit. DJs can use as many tracks as they like, but must include at least one track from the four different genres. It’s about how different DJs interpret and combine the tracks to create their own unique mix.

All potential candidates must be familiar with Serato, competent at scratching and specialise in the mash-up style, and capable of combining different genres with varying tempos. To be considered, you must enter a three minute mix, including four different genres (one of which must be hip-hop) and examples of scratching. The equipment allowed to make your mix is two turntables or CDJs, a mixer, two Novation Dicers and a MIDI controller.

All entries need to be submitted for review to SFS16@Outlook.com via a downloadable WeTransfer link by Friday January 29th. When uploading, in the message section include your name, e-mail address and contact phone number. The filming is due to take place on Wednesday 24th February between 10am-3pm at Austen’s BBQ, 109 Chamberlayne Road, London, NW10 3NS. http://austensbbq.co.uk/. DJ Yoda will be present for filming.

East Recordings are Looking to Take on Interns

East Recordings are looking to take on interns in 2016 for their underground house label, East Recordings, and for their internet radio station/blog, Brick Lane Radio. The label intern post would be ideal for anyone looking to forge a career in the music industry or for a producer to get a foot in the door with an upcoming new label. The radio intern post would be ideal for a DJ looking to get exposure. The two posts could be combined.

There is no salary involved but it is a great opportunity to gain experience in the following areas – how to run a label/radio station/blog, artist liaison, A&Ring, press releases, liaising with PR companies, promotion and database management amongst others.  East Recordings are looking for someone committed, hardworking, smart and honest.

To be considered, send your CV and cover letter to pablo@eastrecordings.com.
