We’re back with a special two-part tutorial series, this time with Point Blank course developer and expert instructor Dan Herbert. In these tutorials, Dan focuses on using Max for Live plugin BEAP – available as part of Ableton Suite – to create your own synths, sequencers and more. Dan Herbert teaches the Sound Design module on our online BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering Degree, on which you can learn everything you need to take your productions to the next level. We are also currently offering 25% off our online courses until the end of the month, so you can save up to £3,900 when enrolling (including a free copy of Ableton Suite or Logic Pro with selected courses).
For those that don’t know, Max for Live is Ableton’s toolkit for building your own custom instruments, effects and tools which you can then share with the rest of the Max for Live community. In this episode, Dan dives deeper into BEAP, looking at hooking up some additional oscillators and a mixer to the subtractive synth he made last week. Dan walks us through adding a sequencer, showing us some useful tips and tricks and how to store patterns, before going on to create a granular synth and manipulating it with an LFO. You can watch episode one here and check out some of our earlier Max for Live tutorials on our YouTube Channel.
