If you follow us here at Point Blank Plus, the name AMANI should be well known to you by now. But for those of you who might have missed it, she is an incredibly talented singer and producer from South London, and the first signing to Point Blank Recordings. We’ve been mesmerised by her work from the moment we set eyes and ears on her, so we were thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome her to our studios on Orsman Road at Point Blank London, for a very special session. The track performed in the video is called ‘The Earth Evolved’, taken from AMANI’s debut EP, ‘Perpendicular’. It’s the perfect introduction to her unique blend of fragility and coiled power, her voice fluttering across her incredible range, driven by the beat of a military march and swelling brass. It’s indicative of the brooding layers and gothic textures that appear throughout the EP, which also includes remixes from Panorama Bar resident Dinky and former PB student Kells. This session was filmed in one of our studios in London. This is where our singing and songwriting students like Leona Lewis and Aluna Francis were taught.
