Watch M-22 Share the Secrets Behind Their Summer Hit

For our latest track deconstruction video, we linked up with British-German duo, M-22 to delve into how they created their summer anthem, ‘How Does It Feel’. The pair, real names Matt James and Frank Sanders, have been working together for a few years now and although they are separated by geographical location they are united by a passion for electronic dance music.  What began as “just any normal session” for M-22 soon spiralled into the dancefloor smash that is, ‘How Does It Feel‘. The track blends a gorgeous mix of infectious hooks, luscious, layered chord progressions and some weighty bassline treatments. Below you can check out how the duo glued all these elements into place. Be warned, this one’s going to cause some unstoppable involuntary head nods.

The deconstruction of ‘How Does It Feel’ covers a lot of ground. With a key focus on structure and layering, this track breakdown will show you exactly how to nail that big room sound and make your mixes sound fuller and brighter. Exploring their kick EQs, go-to plugins and mastering techniques M-22 have truly pulled the curtain back on their extensive creative process.

Since joining forces, Matt James and Frank Sanders of M-22, have cemented themselves in the club scene. They’ve been hotly tipped by a number of influential tastemakers including Pete Tong and Danny Howard, and have signed to Swedish House Mafia legend Sebastian Ingrosso’s Refune Music label. As well as their growing flurry of hits, which have accumulated millions of streams online, the guys have provided their remix skills for the likes of Avicii, Clean Bandit, Rudimental, Major Lazer, Marshmello and more.

The pair is now recognised for sending crowds into a frenzy. Having donned the stages at Tomorrowland, and Balearic superclubs Hï and Ushuaia be sure to keep an eye out for their future DJ slots.
