At Point Blank, we regularly host track masterclasses and breakdowns with some of the best musicians and producers in the business. We have been lucky enough to grab time with the likes of Ben Pearce, Shadow Child and Matthew Dear to discuss their work and give us a bit of an insight into their approach to making music, offering advice and sharing the tips and techniques they employ to get the most out of their work. At Point Blank, we can help you further your career in music by teaching you some of these techniques and much more on our BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering Degree. With modules covering everything from production, sound design and composition to engineering, mastering and even music business it truly is one of the most comprehensive, detailed degrees available.
In this Ableton Live track breakdown, we are joined by London-based duo Austen/Scott in a deconstruction of their single ‘Beyond Thought’, a track on their ‘The Consciousness’ EP out on Dutch label Rejected. Austen and Scott give us their top production tips and discuss their studio setup explaining how sometimes less is more, as well as giving us an insight into their production process. They walk us through every aspect of their track, from programming/texturing drums and writing basslines to using plugins and their mastering process. Watch the video above for the full track breakdown and to get an insight into the duos creative process.
From music production to mixing, mastering and even the business side of things – all are covered comprehensively on our BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering Degree, as well as our new online BA (Hons) Degree.
