On 24th June – the day after the Brexit referendum – the pound sterling dropped to a 31-year low against the dollar, its biggest ever fall in a day. It also fell steeply against the euro, falling 10%. This week, it fell to 20% against the euro, 22% against the dollar and 17% against the rupee.
It doesn’t take a financial analyst to work out that this is very good news for those in possession of euros, dollars or, indeed, many other currencies that are going strong against the pound sterling.
