We are thrilled to announce that our very own Music Production and DJ Performance Programme Leader, Ben Bristow, was recently featured on ITV News at 10 for a special segment commemorating the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop. This exciting feature, reported by Chloe Keedy, took place right here at pointblank London in our state-of-the-art DJ studio, sponsored by Pioneer DJ.

The segment focused on the evolution of DJ technology and how it has been heavily influenced by the techniques pioneered by early hip hop DJs such as DJ Kool Herc. Ben explained how the art of looping, a fundamental aspect of modern DJing, has its roots in hip hop culture. He demonstrated how techniques that once required intricate beat juggling on turntables can now be achieved with the press of a button on modern DJ decks like the CDJ-3000.
“Looping as a DJ concept, came from hip hop,” Ben stated, emphasizing the profound impact that hip hop has had on the music industry and DJing technology.
The feature provided a fascinating insight into the world of DJing, tracing the journey from the raw creativity of early hip hop to the cutting-edge technology used by DJs today. It was a proud moment for pointblank to be part of this national TV news segment, showcasing our commitment to music education and our connection to the vibrant history of hip hop.
