Point Blank Signs Industry Veteran Kwame Kwaten as A&R Director of PB Label

Kicking off the new decade in style, we’re excited to announce that we have officially signed industry veteran Kwame Kwaten as the A&R Director of our homegrown Point Blank record label, Point Blank Recordings.

Having had a #1 in the dance chart with his band D Influence, signed to Atlantic Records, been shortlisted for a Mercury Prize, supported the likes of Michael Jackson, Prince, James Brown and managed the successful Laura Mvula and Shola Ama, Kwame brings his depth of musical knowledge and experience to both our label project and our students. Following a 2-year stint at Believe Digital as Senior A&R, Kwame Kwaten now gears up to work his magic on the Point Blank imprint. If you’d like to benefit from exclusive 1-2-1 meetings and track feedback sessions with Kwame, be sure to enrol on one of our London, Los Angeles or Online courses.

It’s an exciting role that sees me blend two of my passions,” said the Ferocious Talent head honcho about his new post at Point Blank. “Firstly, discovering new talent and, secondly, mentoring some of Point Blank Music School’s top students.

Music and education is the perfect blend for me. The mission is to uncover the many talented students that walk through these doors and establish a release platform for their music.

Kwame Kwaten Signs the Agreement.

I was approached by Jules and Rob to head up the Point Blank label’s A&R. At the end of the meeting and after hearing their vision I was sold on the idea. Point Blank is clearly a forward-thinking higher education space. They have already had huge success stories with previous students within both the music, DJ and Business side of the industry. Just some of the artists include Felix Jaehn (a billion streams), Patrick Topping (60 million streams), Aluna George (500 million streams) and X-Factor winner Leona Lewis (700 million streams). On the business side of things, there’s Mistajam, Monki, Madam X, Gemma Cairney and Benjamin Scarr who are all PB alumni. I’m really looking forward to the new role and have hit the ground running signing two acts already in 2020.

Kwame had previously been at Point Blank as a visiting lecturer but, after 2 years at Believe as senior A&R, the offer to develop the new label was an opportunity too good to turn down.
