Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is the most upfront, influential and educational gathering for electronic music and its industry. With its conference, festival and educational breeding ground, ADE is able to create not only the biggest yearly industry tent-pole moment but also a solid foundation for future generations of electronic music professionals. The event attracts a total of more than 1,000 events in nearly 200 locations across its multidisciplinary program; for five days and nights, the city of Amsterdam truly breathes electronic music. Track Deconstruction of Beyoncé’s ‘Break My Soul – Ski Oakenfull (Oct 19, 14:30 – 15:15)
What better way to really get inside the creation of a track than to have it deconstructed by an expert? That’s what this workshop offers in Ableton Live as the certified trainer and Point Blank Music School educationalist, Ski Oakenfull, breaks down the musical techniques, sound designs and arrangements behind Beyoncé’s No.1 house groove, ‘Break My Soul’. You will leave this one with a new bag of tricks to take home to your studio.
Embracing randomness in Ableton Live – Stevie R (Oct 20, 13:15 – 14:00)
Some of the best music ever made came about by accident, such as the famous invention of the acid sound on a Roland TR-303 by DJ Pierre. In this masterclass, Stevie R will present many different methodologies that allow you to use Ableton as an active collaborator that generates random and ever-evolving musical and percussive phrases whilst morphing and affecting existing elements in the project. Anything could happen, and that’s what makes this one so exciting!
