On 23rd April, 12:00 BST, we are hosting a special YouTube live masterclass: Live DJ Masterclass with Cristian Varela and Roland: Friday Forum Live.
Cristian Varela’s inexhaustible creativity in the studio makes him one of the most prolific Spanish creators of electronic music, being credited with more than 160 references on top-level labels such as Sony/BMG, Plus8/Additive, Primate UK, Intec, Toolroom, Bedrock and more. His restless character and his self-taught ability have placed him as one of the few Beta Testers of brands such as Pioneer DJ and Roland, who rely on his advanced criteria, the same one that he delivers in the classes and tutorials he has taught since 1996 in the main schools and professional events such as Sónar + D, Eumes, Universidad Complutense de Madrid or CEV, among many others, actively getting involved in the discovery and training of young talents.
During the masterclass, Cristian Verela will present some live DJ techniques using Roland’s state-of-the-art hardware and software. This masterclass is open to everyone but if you’re a Point Blank student, you’ll be able to get exclusive discounts on Roland software. Find out about our discounts here.
Aimee Warren is a singer that has worked with a number of artists, including Boy George, creating, arranging and performing backing vocals (BV’s). It can often get overlooked – importance isn’t often shed on the skills to create, arrange and carry out BV parts. This is what we will dive into in the ‘Art of BV’s’ masterclass.
Join us on 20th April at 19.00 pm BST to explore how backing vocals can elevate and add to the energy and essence of a track.
Frank Zummo is one of the most successful and versatile drummers in the music industry today. Currently the drummer for rock band Sum 41, Zummo has an impressive list of career credits. To name just a few impressing highlights, Frank has worked with Kayzo, collaborated with Shepard Fairey, filled in for Tommy Lee of Motley Crue, performed at Linkin Park’s Celebration of Chester Bennington alongside Linkin Park, System Of A Down, and Steve Aoki, and shared the stage with Josh Dune (Twenty One Pilots) and Adrian Young (No Doubt) at the 2017 Alternative Press Music Awards where he won “Drummer of the Year.”
In this industry talk, Frank will share his vast industry expertise, knowledge, and experience as a successful, multi-faceted artist. Frank will share everything that went into his journey of becoming a successful touring artist and sharing the stage with some of the most popular names in music.
Join us for an action-packed masterclass with The Elements, two Point Bank alumni who, since studying with us, have gone on to work with some of the most exciting acts in UK music. They received production credits for Steel Banglez 2019 single, ‘Fashion Week’, and have since gone on to work with Pop Smoke, Burna Boy, Stormzy, AJ Tracey and Zara Larsson amongst many others.
